Keirsey Temperament Assessment
Psychometric Testing

In essence, temperament is an inherent personal style, a predisposition that forms the basis of all of our natural inclinations based on :- What we think - What we feel - What we want - What we need - What we say - What we do.

In other words, temperament is the inborn, ingrained, factory-installed, God given, hard-wired base of our personality

[People Patterns - Stephen Montgomery]
AA

Within the four temperaments there exists.

  • Concrete thinkers [based on facts, logic]
  • Abstract thinkers [based on possibilities, ideas]
  • Those that do what's right [morally/ethically dependent on type]
  • Those that do what works [to get the job done do what is necessary]

Individual temperament strengths are: - Tactical Strategic Diplomatic Logistical

Let's explore a possible scenario
Imagine that you have a team of six people.
The team task is a creative one.
There is urgency for the project to be completed on time and on budget.

ON THE TEAM
3 Guardians - Logistical - concrete thinkers - do what's right [ethically]
1 Artisan - Tactical - concrete thinker - does what works
1 Rational - Strategic - abstract thinker - does what works
1 Idealist - Diplomatic - abstract thinker - does what's right [morally]
AA WHAT HAPPENS?
Guardians
- focus on the logistics of the project
Artisan - formulate tactics and want to complete as soon as possible
Rational wants to discuss the most effective strategy
Idealist - lots of ideas but more concerned with diplomatically encouraging the team to work more cohesively

Can you see the dynamics for conflict within this team already?

What would you do with this team?

If you and your team are not aware of the inherent strengths [and weaknesses] of team members - and how to utilise this knowledge - there exists consistent potential for unnecessary conflict, delays or frustrations.

How does it work?
Each member of the team completes a simple online test [around 15 minutes] and is given an immediate assessment of their temperament type. Usually this is pretty accurate.

A team assessment is then produced, showing the balance of temperament types within the team. This is a valuable aspect of the whole process. When the right person is assigned to the right job for each project he/she will feel happy and fulfilled. The results of that, I feel, are self explanatory.
